Big Sandy, TN History - Wilson Grocery
The letter is from J. W. Wilson, owner of Wilson's Grocery in Big Sandy, TN. The postmark is 1914. Evidently he was called to testify in a case involving L&N Railroad in Paris. He had to travel to Paris for court and he is asking for reimbursement of his expenses. Text of letter: Big Sandy, Tenn June 9, 1914 J. W. Louis Paris, Tenn Acct against L.N.R.R. Co. For Witnesses fee in Coffman & Schrat cases at Camden, Tenn on June 1 & 2 days 2 Days at $1.50 per day $3.00 Mileage 15 miles $1.50 Board while in Camden $2.75 Transportation $ .75 Lossage While From My Shop was $2.50 Per day $5.00 total amt. of acct. $13.00 I talked to Mr. Morris and he said this was the proper way to make out the statement so please give it your proper attention and remit promptly.
